ANCHORAGE - "As an Alaskan, as an American, as a lawyer, I'm disappointed," said Anchorage lawyer and former prosecutor Cliff Groh, who attended the trial of U.S. Senator Ted Stevens in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2008 and has written extensively about all aspects of the public corruption probe.

"The United States government wants this to be over. This is sort of like a root canal combined with a colonoscopy and no anesthetic on either end," Groh said. "Innocent is a moral or literary concept. It's not a legal concept."

"I can't say that same jury if it heard all the evidence it should have heard, that it would not have not reached some guilty verdicts," Groh continued.
