Anti-Rape Nonprofit In Need Of Crisis Line Volunteers

For victims of sexual violence, help is only a phone call away. But, in order to meet demand, the nonprofit STAR is looking for more volunteers to respond to calls.

For victims of sexual violence, help is only a phone call away through the Standing Together Against Rape crisis intervention line.

And in order to meet caller demand, the organization is looking for more volunteers to respond to calls. 

The crisis line runs 24-7. But after business hours, volunteers answer calls from their homes providing victims statewide with support and options.

Now, STAR needs more volunteers to help the keep the lines running.

They are looking for 30 men and women to take the free crisis line training to make sure anyone who needs help can get it.

“There is so many people in the community that just want to help. We hear everyday on the news a new rapist, a new sexual assault, and people feel helpless in the community and this is their way to help,” said STAR volunteer coordinator Sarah Wood.

Crisis line volunteers work three shifts a month.

If Anchorage is in need of more Volunteers for the rape crisis center, there is something wrong with this picture! You probably need "VIGILANTES",I am sure you could rename them to police-assistances and give them the right to make all the citizens arrest they need to. When this kind of crime is happening over and over again, with minimual arrest, convictions, its time to reinstate the "DEATH PENALTY". This is just disgusting.
