Animals Found Abandoned in Mat-Su ValleyAnimal Control takes control of forgotten animalsThe mistreatment of various animals at a Mat-Su Valley home has forced animal care officers to remove them for their own safety, according to Mat-Su Valley Borough officials. Ten mastiffs, a hermit crab, a fish and various other animals were removed from their home on Knik River Road after complaints about the abandoned dogs. Three animal care officials and a trooper took part in the seizure and say 15 dogs are being treated for routine health issues – which were brought on by poor living conditions. The tropical saltwater fish and crab were brought to Anchorage and have already found a permanent home. Potential charges against the owner are pending.
