The Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center is requesting the public's help after recent animal seizures due to alleged cruelty violations. On January 14, AACCC took in 39 dogs and over 40 parakeets in one case, and 22 cats in another case.

Due to the large intake, AACCC is requesting supplies from the public. Supplies they're asking for are non-clumping cat litter (clay litter preferred); parakeet food; small, clean blankets and towels; canned dog food; canned cat food; and dry Science Diet small breed dog food. Items can be brought to AACCC at 4711 Elmore Road during business hours, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Local groomer Arctic Tails is helping bathe and groom the dogs; if you'd like to contribute to that effort and help defray a portion of the cost, call Arctic Tails at 360-3220.

For more information, contact AACCC at 343-8138, or visit www.muni.org/animal.
