ANCHORAGE - When weather is as unpredictable as Anchorage's, it's sometimes hard to think about dressing fashionably.

Well, apparently Outsiders have noticed because Anchorage has been named the worst dressed city in America.

That is according to Travel and Leisure Magazine, whose readers rated major destinations on the fashion scale. Anchorage falls so short, it got the lowest grade.

KTVA let some local residents have their say about that and many of them agreed; having cold snowy weather nine months out of the year tends to shift ones priorities from trying to look trendy to just staying warm.

"I think Anchorage is like one big, giant airport," said G.W. Neal "There so many people from everywhere up here, everybody style kind of meshes, people pick up from other people's style and it makes one big weird style."

Lulu E. Bebe's woman's fashion store seems to think you just need to be able to explore and try new things. "Know matter what you  wear just make sure you feel comfortable," said Kyrsten Fisher,  a sales associate.

Alaska may be the worst dressed, but when it comes to being comfortable with who you are, Alaskans are most comfortable with different people. This state is full of different cultures that it is almost hard not to run away from NOT growing to feel comfortable with different races. And if you are not comfortable, maybe you have not reached the "right temperature" yet and need to have that rub in. Sooner or later people learn to be comfortable with people and who they are, and that outshines outward appearances to look good, to feeling comfortable with who you are, and not how you look with how you dress, which is beside the point, Jesus would be happy with Alaska, lol....

Because of what we have to pay for gas and other goods we can't afford to keep up with the outside Jones.

I love that I can go to the symphony in semi-formal attire and sit next to someone who has come in clean Carharts. It's about the music not the clothes. And church without wearing a tie is OK for men most of the time. I'd rather folks were attending things regardless of fashion. This is the only place in the country where we can wear fur and not worry about getting hit with a paint ball!

Haha...and proud of it! I have lived here all my life and Alaskans know comfort and practical is more important than fashion!
