ANCHORAGE - This year's New Year's Eve celebration Downtown will actually be a trip back in time.

An ode to the 1980s is the theme of the Fire and Ice Celebration sponsored by the Downtown Partnership of Anchorage in Town Square. Participants can ring in 2013 with live music during an ice skating party for the kids. Organizers say it will be a fun filled night, so be sure to bring your cameras.

Penny Smythe, the Director of the Downtown Partnership said, "We've got a 1980 costume contest, so if everyone brings their jean jacket and a scrunchie from the 1980s, that would be great."

The fun will start Monday at 5 p.m., with the fireworks extravaganza at 8 p.m.
