Anchorage Police Officer Investigated After Reckless Driving

Video captured on a cell phone shows an officer's reckless driving

ANCHORAGE - An Anchorage police officer is under investigation after he was filmed driving erratically.

It was captured on a phone camera on the Glenn Highway, Tuesday, and is now on YouTube.

The couple making the tape said he appeared to be eating and looking down at a computer, causing him to veer at times and change speeds abruptly.

They said it nearly caused a crash twice, including once with them.

“I’m not making a judgment about whether or not this was distracted driving,” said Anchorage Police Department Lieutenant Dave Parker. “We'll allow the internal investigation to determine that. However, distracted driving in and of itself is something that all of us need to take stock in.”

Police will not release the results from internal investigation, but Parker said this incident and an earlier one have created a heightened sensitivity in the department about the way officers drive.

Troopers are just like anyone else. And worse than some. They will turn on their own like a pack of dogs regardless of innocence just because they believe in false reports from psychopaths and fail to see the true abuse going on to keep others safe. Have an affair as they see it and those in the department who are having or have had affairs will come cut your throat even as they proclaim friendship. They judge and lie all in the name of law enforcement. This cop driving is human, but his crew will rip him to shreds. The IA team will delve into his private life and where a civilian would get warnings this cop will be ridiculed by his peers, treated like a horrible criminal and judged for making a bad driving choice and anything private in his life will be talked about even though no one should know and IA should Hold that info as highly confidential they won't and everyone will talk about him as if he was dirt Troopers are harsh to citizens but EVIL and self righteous to their own.

Officers' need to be held to a higher standard. Recently, a friend's son was being berated by an officer after an accident, surprisingly, when the parent arrived...the tone immediately changed. Any officer who can not maintain composure and is yelling, should not be an officer. be professional when dealing with the public in your performance of duties. Know the job is stressful, but you chose the profession -- deal with it.

"...distracted driving in and of itself is something that all of us need to take stock in.” Really? Come on. Dave Parker lacks the verbal skills and polish for his position as a public relations specialist with the police department. He misspeaks, uses words and phrases incorrectly, he's grammatically challenged. APD, you can do better than that. And you must.

This will be another one handled within the code of silence and nothing will be done. Cops are not held up to a higher standard.

We are paying their salary. I think we have the right to know the outcome of the so called "investigation" We we go to court over a traffic violation, the judge just takes the officers word what we didn't completely stop, or swerved. This was caught on film! Whats there to investigate ??

its the code of silence, true anyone else driving that way would have been given a ticket, just another rouge cop out there, and others cover it up.

What is there to investigate. He was caught in film, if this would've a me or any other person they would gotten a ticket. This is the police, I'm sure they know better. By the way why does the police get to police themselves. Guess they'll find nothing wrong.
