Anchorage Massage Parlor Busted for Prostitution
Two women were arrested after an undercover operation revealed that Tropic Massage was a front for prostitution.
Anchorage police have busted a local massage parlor for prostitution.
Two women were arrested after an undercover operation revealed that Tropic Massage, near the intersection of Lake Otis and Tudor, was a front for prostitution.
One woman has been charged with practicing prostitution and another for maintaining a place of prostitution.
Officers with the Anchorage Police Department’s vice unit say they often target the owners of massage parlor fronts for sex trafficking.
The women doing the sex acts are often brought up from the lower 48 and caught in a revolving door type of operation that continues even after police bust them.
“This is the sixth time we have made an undercover bust here at this massage parlor,” says Sgt. Kathy Lacey of the APD’s vice unit.
“Massage parlors are often a front for prostitution activity and this is a typical example where they are advertising that they are doing legitimate massage, but they are actually practicing prostitution inside these massage parlors.”
Lacey says it is too soon in the investigation to tell if Tropic Massage is tied to a larger sex trafficking ring.
The investigation is ongoing.
