Anchorage Massage Parlor Busted for ProstitutionTwo women were arrested after an undercover operation revealed that Tropic Massage was a front for prostitution.
Anchorage police have busted a local massage parlor for prostitution.
Two women were arrested after an undercover operation revealed that Tropic Massage, near the intersection of Lake Otis and Tudor, was a front for prostitution. One woman has been charged with practicing prostitution and another for maintaining a place of prostitution. Officers with the Anchorage Police Department’s vice unit say they often target the owners of massage parlor fronts for sex trafficking. The women doing the sex acts are often brought up from the lower 48 and caught in a revolving door type of operation that continues even after police bust them. “This is the sixth time we have made an undercover bust here at this massage parlor,” says Sgt. Kathy Lacey of the APD’s vice unit. “Massage parlors are often a front for prostitution activity and this is a typical example where they are advertising that they are doing legitimate massage, but they are actually practicing prostitution inside these massage parlors.” Lacey says it is too soon in the investigation to tell if Tropic Massage is tied to a larger sex trafficking ring. The investigation is ongoing. |

Who is the revolving door? said on Sunday, Jul 31 at 8:14 PM
Is the revolving door our justice system, the police, or the massage parlor? It kind of seems like a cycle of corruption doesnt it?

You have go to be kidding me. 6 times this has happened? At least one person, obviously needs to be fired if they think this is acceptable.

Why do they bother? Seems these places have alwayse existed and always will. Why bust the girls? If the police are convinced, as we see on 60 minutes that an organized crime ring is behind this then go after them. You bust the girls, they pay a fine and go back to work. Doesn't change a thing.

I feel so much safer tonight in my person and property knowing those prostitutes are in jail and cannot violate me. I am so proud that the City of Anchorage has the resources to hire a Sgt. Kathy Lacey and turn her loose to work on this pressing problem. I agree that the resources Ms. Lacey is spending on stopping sex for money transactions between consenting adults is more important than tracking down gang bangers and working on the umpteen unsolved break-ins and burglaries, not to mention unsolved killings, in Anchorage.

If it's an ongoing problem why don't the powers at be close them down permanently. But NOOOO we'll just let the others that are forceing kids erom the villages into the sex trade run rampate.Remember when this was a state called ALASKA that was founded on prositution, gold bust fur tradeing and oil boom.I know most do not agree with me that it was a better place to live when Spenard was the place to go for a good time. And you could get good and roudy on saturday night every now and then some body would put a few rounds in the air but it was usually over and done with after that. The Chatau or the Bunny club kept the girls and guys all in a good way.But now people seem to have forgoten the days where being an ALASKAN was a thing of pride. Nowadays for the most part people look at us as the modern version of the beverly hillbilles Sorry about the way I feel But I wish it could be like it used to be every thing out in the open.

I'm a retired Fire Inspector and I've inspected every brothel in Anchorage. The Muni licenses these places as 'Adult Culture Clubs' or other such euphemisms. The application for a business license to such establishment clearly asks if the applicant has been convicted of prostitution. Police have known this for decades.
