Just after nine, Tuesday morning, a 29-year old Anchorage man was arrested after police said he shot his cousin in the foot. The two had previously been arguing about money.

Chase Brewer shot 26-year-old Jason Chernikoff and then fled the Muldoon trailer court with a shotgun in hand.

Officers sealed the area while they searched for the subject.

“Obviously, in a situation like this, where we believe this man had already fired a shot and injured another person, we're concerned for the public safety so we flooded the area with officers, traffic units and swat units so we had enough personnel on scene to handle this situation,” said Anchorage Police Department Lieutenant Dave Parker.

Bartlett High School was locked down as a security precaution.

Police tracked Brewer's footprints and located the shotgun in a storage shed of another mobile home in the same park.

An hour and a half after the search began, the K9 unit found Brewer at the crime scene. He was then arrested and taken into custody.

Brewer has previous convictions for fraud, theft and sexual abuse.
