An Anchorage man was sentenced today to serve 111 years in prison for murder and attempted murder for a 2007 shooting at a house party in south Anchorage.
Dirkston Gonzales, now 21, was 17 in 2007 when he was asked to leave the house party for fighting.
Dirkston later returned to the home with a .44 caliber pistol, he shot and killed David 'D.J.' Irvin through a door and seriously injured Stephanie Lockhart who was attempting to hide in a corner. Gonzales fled the scene, but was arrested by Anchorage police officers shortly thereafter.
Gonzales was convicted by a jury of murder, attempted murder and burglary in 2009.
Superior Court Judge Eric Aarseth sentenced Gonzales to 99 years with 79 suspended for the murder, 60 years with 30 suspended for the attempted murder and two years with no suspended time for burglary.
Gonzales will be eligible for parole in 37 years.
