Anchorage Man Charged In Hotel ShootingPolice first responded to the shooting at the Millenium Hotel just after 6:30 p.m, where they found 55-year-old Kerry Fadely dead from multiple gunshot wounds.Victor Rodriguez Flores, 45, faces charges of first-degree murder after witnesses said he gunned down his former manager at an Anchorage hotel Saturday night. Police first responded to the shooting at the Millenium Hotel just after 6:30 p.m, where they found 55-year-old Kerry Fadely dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified Flores as the shooter, and told police he was a former employee at the hotel who had been terminated a week ago.
The hotel and surrounding area were locked down while the Anchorage Police Department SWAT was called in to find the shooter. Hotel guests were evacuated as police searched room-by-room, and another group of officers surrounded the suspect's residence on the 3100 block of Lakeshore Drive.
Flores was finally apprehended by police near his home around 10:45 p.m and remains in custody.

@ MSGY - I am truly impressed with your comment.....it really wraps up this topic on so many levels. I appreciate your educated and mature take....the world needs more people like you.

Dear Anchorage citizens, every one of the comments state some truth. Mutual truths do not exclude each other. Clearly some people found Victor as he was known there to be likable and some people do not. This is true for all of us. Some people like us and others do not. Ms. Fadley will clearly be missed as well. The Millennium is a difficult place to work, both because of poor design in the physical plant and because of a chronicaly poisonous corporate culture. There are good people who would like to improve this in the company and the paranoia that has been inculcated withinn the management team is intractable. i have to tell you that the management training is incredibly lacking. The only consitant message is to no matter what protect the hotel from liabilty especialy when their is liability. This event happened exactley as I warned them it would. Communication is poor and security conciousness is margnal. I had to clean up te last shooting murder their and keep it out of the news.

I used to work there and knew Victor. He was a gentle kind man and would give you the shirt off his back. I do not know what drove him to do what he did - but she definitely did something wrong - but it didnt warrent her death. This was not some mere innocent shooting.

Did he work at the down stairs restaurant as a waiter and sometimes worked at the Coffee Cart outside the restaurant door. He was very rude to my daughter and I. We asked to be seated near the window so me could watch the planes and a woman seated us. He approched and told us we needed to move to another table on the dark side of the restaurant. There was only on other table of people in the entire restaurant. My daughter and I moved as he asked. I stated that my ddaughter and I had drove down to the hotel to eat breakfast and watch the planes. The other table of people looked at us with empathy, and like they were questioning why we were being moved. I asked for a childrens menu and he said there is none. So I because frustrated cried and left with my daughter in tow.

being an employee of this hotel I know first hand that victor was not fired during the time management got fired. he was terminated for the fact that he was not doing his job. He was not all there. He went from being the best worker there to one of the worst He was given multiple chances to redeem himself and make things better but he chose not to. This was HIS choice. As for kerry she did all she could to help him but he did not want help. SO in saying this he went nuts an did something completely stupid. To the family and friends of kerry I pray that God be with you through this time. as well to all the other workers as well as myself that we are able to get passed this hard time and know that kerry is now looking down at us not wanting us to be sad she would want us to be sad.

To worried: How dare you put the blame on a company/business. Corporate people, Owners and Managers did not tell this ex-employee to pull the trigger. People get terminated daily but that does not give them the right to take someone else's life. There's a saying "If one door closes, the other one opens". You just have to face it and move on. Loosing a Job is not the end of the world, there are alot of opportunities and jobs out there, you just have to find it. But doing something ridiculous like this is the end of your own world. Life is not anybody's to take it is God's Gift to All. So therefore worried, next time post something that is true instead of posting something sound so ignorant like that. Condolences to Families and Friends. Kerry, May our Good Lord provide a beautiful place in Paradise for you....

worried. You really don't have any idea what you are talking about. I was friends with both of these people in this incident. WAS... Victor was let go because of poor performance and attitude. He was a mess on drugs and, I'm guessing, flipped out and took it out on a very nice lady who had to do what is best for the entire team. Your suggestions are laughable. you really don't know which end is up... Kerry, you will be missed here at work. Victor. I'm ashamed . May God have mercy on your soul.

C'mon... Really??? How on earth could anyone say "This Event happened because Millennium fired people?!?! A business has to do what a business has to do. I worked for a company that was going under years ago... My position was let go and I was not happy BUT my mind was not so weak that I wanted to go kill someone. I needed the money to pay bills, etc... I didn't know where I would be working after that or how I was going to pay bills, rent, etc. People face challenges every day, and "Deal With It!!" Blaming ANY company for a thing like this is uncalled for.
76115203unknown said on Monday, Oct 31 at 9:19 AM
Really worried, you should think first before you speak and gather all your facts, because as far as I know that did not happen. If people were let go by a company, is because there's a good reason why. You just don't walk in the door and kick everybody out. This is a business and as a business owner/manager you have to protect your assets. Now my Condolences goes out to Kerry's Family and especially her loved ones. May She rest in peace and love. And the truth is, what happened is nobody's fault but the person who did it. So therefore don't put the blame on others but the one who's responsible for it...We'll miss you Kerry....You will be missed and never forgotten.

Yep, looks like Anchorage is going to turn into another Fresno, Cali with more Latinos moving here and do what they always do to ruin communities just like this idiot. Good thing we Alaska has great gun laws for its citizens to blast these morons unlike Cali's ridiculous laws. Everyone, lock and load and be ready to protect yourselves on a moment's notice.

Worried.... Really? The hotels fault? What happened to personal responsibility? What is it with people these days anyway? People get fired/laid off every day, that doesn't justify them coming in and taking the life of another. It's comments like that that really show how ignorant some people can be.

Worried, He was not an employee let go during the GM's sweep of managers. He was fired due to his own actions against other employees and his supervisors after all of the terminations occurred. There was no link between his actions and that particular occurrence. In fact there was no link between this employee and the new GM. You obviously don't know first hand...
76082042Cindy said on Sunday, Oct 30 at 12:54 PM
Really folks! It's the hotels fault?.... You may not agree with the management practices, pay scales, etc. But someone willingly gunned down another person because they were mad.... that's a crime, and there is no justification, period.
76081144Eric said on Sunday, Oct 30 at 11:00 AM
So they showed up and fired people to save a few buck. I feel for the people who got fired, but in reality...so what. That's business. And anyone who owns a business, including Worried, would do a similar thing. It's not like the people came up and fired employees so they could ruin their business. They fired them to make their business more competitive - streamlining due to better processes or to compensate for the demand on their hotel. Business. Period. Corporate greed? Let me ask anyone who's about to argue: Did you think this was the Millennium YMCA?
76078202worried said on Sunday, Oct 30 at 10:45 AM
this event happened because millinnium hotel corporate came in the last 3 weeks and fired over 15 managers/employees to save a few $'s.... they fired over 200 people the last 2 years because of their corporate greed! trust me I know first hand....
