Anchorage Gets Fashion Makeover

A backstage look at Object Runway

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage got a makeover Thursday night with the fashion event Object Runway.

Over 50 local designers made wearable art, complete with fierce hair and makeup to match.

The contest was judged by “Project Runway” ontestant Joshua McKinley, who flew from New York for the event.

He judged the show wearing a black blazer with a rose pattern, something he said he felt inspired to wear after looking around at all the snow.

Anchorage's foray into fashion and the popularity of the event might surprise some people since the city was voted "worst dressed" by Travel and Leisure magazine last year. McKinley hadn't heard that before, but when he heard he said, "that's why I'm here."

He said an event like Object Runway could only improve a city's fashion. "Listen," he said, "you can only go up from the bottom."

There's a difference between "Fashion" and "art". THIS event is an ART SHOW featuring wearble ART. Apparently, some residents of Anchorage (above) clearly are not sophisticated enough to know the difference.

Anchorage? Don't ever do that again. That wasn't fashion. That's why he said, "you can only go up from the bottom." That's where this was...the bottom...scrapping it....hard. Some of those people should NEVER call themselves "designers". That was bad.
