ANCHORAGE – Things are looking up for Anchorage's economy.

New figures show 2011 was the best year for job growth in the last decade.

Economist Robert Reich, who served as Labor Commissioner under Bill Clinton, said the rest of the country has suffered much more.

“Anchorage and even Alaska is something of an exception. The Lower 48 is still struggling to get out of the recession of 2008. Job growth is very, very slow and consumer confidence in the Lower 48 is still fairly low.”

The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation sponsored Reich’s visit to Alaska. Read AEDC's newly published 3 Year Outlook here.
