Spying in the Last Frontier?

An Alaska-based soldier is behind bars on charges of espionage.

Friday morning, the FBI arrested 22-year-old military policeman Specialist William Colton Millay.

The soldier, originally from Kentucky, is currently stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

The FBI and Army counterintelligence are conducting the joint espionage investigation.

While Army spokesman Major Bill Coppernoll can’t speak to the details of the case, he said, “because of the close coordination between Army counterintelligence and the FBI, any information that might have been transferred was stopped.”

He also said Millay was “being observed well before any damage could have occurred."

Millay remains in custody pending the start of court martial proceedings against him and is unlikely to be charged in federal criminal court.

If the soldier knowingly and willingly mishandled classified documents or other classified information, or other questionable actions to place him under suspicion, then he deserves to be nailed.
