PORTAGE – The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center finished the first phase of its multimillion dollar bear center.

Construction just wrapped up on a new bridge that will take visitors up above the black bear exhibit.

This phase alone took four months and cost more than $500,000.

The whole project is estimated to cost $6-9 million and isn't expected to be finished until 2016.

The newly completed walkway won't be open to the public for a few more weeks.
