Alaska Man to Climb Everest to Benefit Boys and Girls ClubsANCHORAGE - An Alaska man is raising funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs around the state by climbing Mount Everest. Ty Hardt will begin his journey at the end of the month. Tuesday he was at the Boys and Girls Club in Muldoon to share his expedition plans with the kids. He also showed them the gear he plans to take to the 29,000-foot summit with him. Hardt said, ''It's a very well-run club, but again, it's inside a local elementary school in Barrow. A good example: This is a club that used to be a stand-alone club. I hope that by raising a little bit of money it will help with operational costs and just help with the cost of running a club on the slope." |
