ALASKA - You could say Alaska has some of the best beers in the world, and now it’s official.

The Alaskan Brewing Company has taken impressive honors in the 2012 World Beer competition held recently in San Diego.

The company won three medals including a silver medal for its Alaskan Amber brew and two bronze medals for its Alaskan Stout and Alaskan IPA. The awards are impressive considering over 4,000 beers were entered in the competition from hundreds of different breweries around the world. An international panel of judges did the tasting blindfolded.

The Alaskan Brewing Company is based in Juneau and recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The company, which started small, now sells its products in fourteen states.

They like to say they put a little bit of Alaska in every bottle.

I prefer Alaskan Amber. I'll drink to that.
