ANCHORAGE - Tonight, Israel Keyes, who has lived in Alaska for five years, remains something of a mystery. The man arrested in connection with the Samantha Koenig abduction has lived in the Turnagain neighborhood for about two years, according to a few neighbors, who did not want to go on camera. They say Keyes extensively remodeled the house at 2456 Spurr Lane soon after moving in. Kimberly Anderson owns the house, according to property records. Keyes lived with his girlfriend and a little girl, although it's not known whether she is his, hers or theirs. Keyes is described as seemingly easy going, although we could find no one who had a substantive conversation with him. He and his girlfriend reportedly had three or four parties a year, with about 10 cars parking along Spurr lane. Keyes has a company, Keyes construction, with a post office box for an address. No one answered the company’s phone tonight. Neighbor Russell Gunderson, who never met Keyes, says he observed that Keyes was busy. "Nothing suspicious at all, except for that he worked hard. You know, he was always on the go." On his company's website, Keyes lists two personal references. Messages were left with both of those individuals this evening, but so far the calls, emails and Facebook messages – to Washington state and Virginia – have not been returned. In June 2006, Keyes finished 129th in a marathon in Olympia, Washington, in a time of 9 hours and 2 minutes. And he has a traffic-related criminal record. He was convicted in federal court of drunk driving, speeding and failure to obey a traffic control device in Tacoma, Washington, in 2001. He also had a state charge there of driving with a suspended license. And now he's facing the most serious charge of his life -- a life that remains largely shrouded tonight. The FBI wants to talk to anyone who has been in contact with Israel Keyes since the first of this year. People with information should call 1-800-225-5324 or 1-800-CALL-FBI. |

Israel Keyes has apparently told the Anchorage Police that he killed Bill and Lorraine Currier in Essex, Vermont in June 2011. You can read about it on the WCAX.com website.

Anyone on here doubting Keyes' guilt is a complete moron. Go look up his device fraud charge (which is backed by an FBI agent who details the ATM footage they followed after he stole the credit card to the traffic stop where they found a makeshift mask and dark gray hoodie in the trunk) and then honestly think about that. We KNOW he stole a credit card, trolled around ATM's on the way to his "family vacation" where he travelled alone, and he mysteriously stopped using the card for roughly a week following the time he took Samantha for probably obvious reasons and horrifically took her life when she could have gone home and gotten therapy and been with us. May God have no mercy on this waste of humanity and may Samantha be in loving harmony for eternity.

This popped up again on Google alterts. In the interim - in sequence. No, Keyes is not jewish by ethicity or religion. He was raised Mormon and is not atheist. Samantha Koenig was found dead, in Matanuska Lake. Keyes was caught with a mask and a gun, after ripping off ATMs with a still-unidentified man's card (Not Koenig.) The Texas police, when he was arrested, said there was evidence tying him to the kidnap in his car. Perhaps that was the mask. Ms. Koenig was dead, per the authorities, within hours of being kidnapped. It took them a very short time to find the body, once they went to the lake. Probably somebody told them where the body was.

Israel Keyes is Jewish and therefore did nothing wrong. Non-Jews like his victim do not have souls and are the equivalent of animals. That is very explicit in the Talmud.

I have read all the comments posted here...& I have to say that the SK case has not ruined Keyes business. Seems as if he has done this on his on doing. When he decided to leave town did he leave info. on his voicemail for potential customers or current customers to know he would be going "on vacation" & when he would be returning? No. Sounds like he left town in a hurry & I personally would not want someone doing work in my home if I knew he had pending charges of credit card fraud. So, he ruined his own business. And, not everyone who lives in the state of AK is a "person of interest" in this case. So, the APD must have something linking him to this case to list him as such. Bottom line...a young lady is missing & she needs our help to get her home safely.

Just wanted to go see his family? Am I missing something? Why did he get charged with using her debit or atm card? How would he have had that? Does he have loose (or close) ties with a certian motorcycle group the way she does? Is he taking the fall for someone higher up in that group? Is apd scared by that connection?

That is narrow minding thinking Linlew. Its easy to justify something bad happening to someone by saying "o there is more". There is not more. There is no extra evidence. They are hidden stuff from the public. Like why he was in Texas. Ben is right too. Instead of wasting time on a man who just happened to leave for vacation with his family. Why not try and find the real kidnapper before its to late. Israel is being punished to take the heat off of everyone so they look like they're doing something. I am glad to see that there are people out there that see that an innocent mans life is being ruined. How is he going to work in that town now after he gets set free for something he never did. Construction is a reputation base business. So before any more single minded people decide to judge someone without knowing all of the information and use the excuse that there is evidence that we dont know about. Remember that when its said and done you condoned his life being ruined.

The police I am sure is not going to let the public in on all they know so as not to take any chances of having this case thrown out once it goes to trial because of a mishandling of any Info or evidence.I am positive there is so much more going on behind the scenes than anyone is going to know of.It's called keeping tight security and things under wrap so as not to cause even a slight reason for this man to go free if he is guilty.And that whole story about Samantha running off and hiding / That's about the biggest bunch of ' Nancy Grace' Bull sh.t I ever heard. Frances- How about defending letting Israel go so that he can be with his daughter. The only suspicious thing is that Israel left town to go to Texas for a vacation to see his family.

There is no reason to arrest this man. There is no evidence against him. And once they release him. They ruined his life. He owns a business. You want to know why no one is answering the phone. I feel for this man and his family. If I was part of the Koenig family I would be very upset. They're not just delaying finding there daughter. But they now have another another man who has no evidence against him other then he went to Texas. Not once did they mention why he was in Texas. hmmm I wonder why

First of all, you need a passport to get across the border into Canada... and where can you start a new life on about 400.00 which is what he got from the coffee shop. There was no "boyfriend" behind Dwanes back.. We are all praying for Sams safe return home.. For the sanity of her father Sonny, if your comment's going to include ignorant speculation please keep it to your self and off any sites.. you need to consider how you would feel if this was your child..

suspect is innocent until proven guilty in the USA-- but this is the beginning of finding where Samantha is. Theories and imagination of the public are usless at this point. Hard evidence held by the police is what is useful. This is the beginning of finding SK.

Or maybe he hasnt said were she is because he has no idea who she is. He is 34 and didnt want anything to do with an 18 year old. If she has problems running away and did it for a new boyfriend then they both are still running and staying hid in hopes of an innocent man taking the fall for it

I'm telling you, they were boyfriend and girlfriend behind her boyfriends back, and they staged the whole robbery/abduction thing. They had a 2 day head start, to drive through the border, which can be done in 2-3 days. They made off with enough money to move and live elsewhere, in hopes everything will die off. They should have stayed hidden. She has, so far. Just my opinion and thought. She has that history of running or causing something to take away from whatever problem she had going. So, this has to be all a ploy to run away with a new guy and start anew elsewhere. I don't think she's dead. I'm really hoping this is all the case.
