82-Year-Old is a Lesson in Staying Active
Dora Archer works at keeping up a busy lifestyle
ANCHORAGE - At first glance Dora Archer’s room may seem a bit busy, but that’s the way she likes it.
It’s where her treasures are, including pieces of her own artwork.
At 82-years-old, Archer is a widow, mother and grandma.
“I like to do crafts, I like to paint, like to crochet, play cards,” she said.
Four years ago she moved into Providence Horizon House, an assisted living home. But it didn't slow her down
“This is like a little city; I know all the people which makes it nice,” she said.
Archer spends a part of every day checking in on others.
She says she enjoys the company in return. “I like people and I like to talk, I like to listen; I’ve got big shoulders,” she said.
Her friends say she's made such a difference that they nominated her for an award.
But for her, it's just part of a daily routine.
