APU Haunted House Benefits CharitiesAdmission is free, but donations are suggestedANCHORAGE - Alaska Pacific University is scaring the daylights out of people… for a good cause. APU turned its Gould Hall into a frightening, zombie-filled haunted house. Admission is free but organizers ask people to bring canned goods, clothing, toiletries or monetary donations. All donations and proceeds go to Bean’s Café and the Covenant House. More than 1,000 people went through the haunted house over the weekend and the donations are already stacking up. “We really wanted to benefit two community organizations that really need the help during the winter months. We had the snow today so it was perfect for all these donations to come in. Talk about perfect timing with all the canned food coming right on in,” said Haunted House Director Tim Flynn. The haunted house is open October 30 and 31. Kid-friendly festivities are from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Organizers say they ramp up the scare factors for adults from 8:45-11:00 p.m. |
