ANCHORAGE – The APD officer responsible for shooting and killing 26-year-old Shane Tasi last Saturday is Anchorage Police Department Patrol Division Officer Boaz Gionson.

Gionson shot Tasi after Tasi refused to put down a stick he was carrying.

Officers responded to the 700 block of North Bunn Street late Saturday evening after a report of a man screaming and yelling at cars as they drove by, as well as attacking a neighbor’s dog.

Gionson joined the Anchorage Police Department on November 26, 2007.

The case is still under investigation.
