871 Paper Dolls Represent Victims of Child Abuse

As Sexual Assault Awareness Month continues, you may have noticed a paper doll display around town.

The display “How Are The Children" focuses on children who are victims of abuse.

Paper dolls, 871 to be exact, are on display and represent the number of kids who walk into the doors of Alaska CARES for physical and sexual assaults in Anchorage in one year.

Those who perform evaluations at the clinic say the needs of many children are not being addressed because the community is turning a blind eye.

Cory Bryant, manager of Alaska CARES, says the showcase of paper dolls reminds the public of “the numbers of kids who are being seen for being sexually abused and physically abused” and that everyday citizens can help by volunteering or intervening.

yes and all the while there is many more unreported due to fear mongering of the abuser... we need to hire the soldiers fresh out of war to go with these kids to court...give them a sense of security and the abuser can get a fresh set of eyes on them for a change...lol..
