45 Cent StampsPrice of stamps riseSunday postage stamps went up to 45 cents. It’s the first price hike on the first class stamps since May 2009. The U.S. Postal Service announced the penny increase in October. It’s the latest in a series of measures to keep the cash strapped agency financially sound. The post office has suffered crushing blows the past several years, as electronic mail continues to eclipse what many Americans now call “snail mail”.

Another Obama plan to steal more money from tax payers to fund his own life style. He will come out with even more plans. If he could tax the air we breathe he would. The post offices should go public.Goverment can't run anything right. They run everything into the ground.

I tell you whats bad, is when your standing in a long line at the post office, and one of the customer service people, closes his window and says.."Time for my lunch break"..and leaves and with the long line still standing there! I don't know about anyone else, but where I work, if its busy, we stay there until it slows down...yes this really did actually happen, I was in dismay...especially know what they make! No sympathy from me neither!!

I agree with Bob...raise to .50 and be done with it already. I live in Chugiak and our post office is horrible. Yeah, they deliver the mail as long as 1. the box isn't too high and 2. the box isn't too low or 3. too much snow. There is always a problem and of course we raise it, lower it, clean the snow and jump through whatever hoops they DEMAND. OH and the customer service folks working the counter has a horrible attitude. I've never been in there and and any kind of kindness or mutual respect extended even though I have also been friendly. Maybe I have manners and they don't? Not sure but all I can think is it must REALLY suck to work there. I need a p.o. box so I went and rented on in Anchorage. No telling what the Chugiak people would demand to give a key. I'd probably need to sweep the floor or my shoes aren't the right color. Rude. One day I hope email takes over and we don't need the post office workers. Too rude and no sympathy from me.

They should have just raised it to 50 cents and then if they can't get by on that fold up shop..
