FAIRBANKS — Three men were charged Tuesday with a rash of vehicle burglaries in the Yak Estates subdivision in west Fairbanks.

According to court documents, Alex Alberto Arauz-Ciriaco, 20, Dennis J. Sweet, 19, and Jiovhan R. Stevenson, 20, all of Fairbanks, were arrested Monday morning at about 3:45 a.m. in a white Dodge pickup. They were outside the entrance to the subdivision off Chena Ridge Road.

Two other men in the truck fled on foot. A search dog failed to find them, troopers said.

Stevenson and Sweet said they entered at least seven vehicles.

Troopers have identified at least two other vehicles that were burglarized.

All three men are being charged with two counts of felony theft and nine counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass.

Stolen items found in their possession include a Sony camera worth $1,600, an iPod, a dual-screen DVD system, a subwoofer, an amplifier, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and a .25-caliber pistol. Troopers were able to find the registered owner of the .25-caliber pistol.

Troopers also found marijuana and a pipe, which Sweet said belonged to him.

Troopers are asking anyone with information related to the incident to call the trooper post at 451-5100.
