ANCHORAGE - This week 2,800 high school seniors are expected to graduate from the Anchorage School District.

“I’m really excited,” said Kristina Henkel, a South High senior.

After four years of hard work more than 350 seniors are finally able to celebrate and take the next step toward a new journey.

“It's just been building up to this moment for a really long time,” said Grace Mitton, a South High senior.

For many of them college is in the cards.

“I’m going to University of Texas Austin, and studying engineering design and business marketing,” said Nicole Ourso, another senior.

Although nothing is promised with this job market, these seniors say they remain optimistic.

“If we persevere and keep trying than we can eventually find our own little place in this world,” said Tyler Browning, a South High senior.

“The economy is a little tricky right now, but finding a job that's in need all the time, which is I’m going into education,” said Jessica Mannhardt, a South High School senior.

For now they're just thinking about today's milestone.
