ALASKA- A 43-year-old woman is missing after going camping at Granite Creek Campground on Saturday.

According to Alaska State Troopers, Valerie Sifsof was at her campsite, near Mile 64 of the Seward Highway, when she walked away from it around midnight.

A friend and fellow camper attempted to locate her before leaving the campsite around noon the following day, but was unsuccessful.

Media reports of "rescue teams" on the ground are incorrect. There are not. But it would be great if Alaska Mountain Rescue Group was called in!

Was she suicidal or upset about anything? Was she by herself? A single woman camping is NOT a good idea, without a gun at least and that doesnt make it safe against the 2 or 4 legged animals. Hope she is found quickly!
