Man Wanted for Attempted Murder of Girlfriend Now in CustodyBukurim Miftari escapes police after beating girlfriend nearly to deathUPDATE: Tuesday evening APD announced the suspect, Bukurim Miftari, contacted police via his attorney shortly after 6 p.m., and is in police custody. Kristen Reid is still in the hospital in critical condition, and police are not releasing details of the assault, including whether weapons were involved. ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Police Department is still searching for a man they say nearly beat his girlfriend to death then abandoned her on the side of the road. Officers attempted to contact 21-year old Bukurim Miftari at a home near Old Seward and Grange on Monday night. They say he slipped out the back door and escaped on foot. The Alaska State Troopers’ helicopter searched from above for hours with no sign of Miftari, leaving police to follow up on leads to his whereabouts on Tuesday. “There's a lot of things we're doing to be able to locate him. Some do have information he may be receiving assistance from some of his friends, and I would caution his friends that if they choose to do that they could also face charges for hindering prosecution,” said Lieutenant Anthony Henry. Neighbors in the area say they were concerned about the heavy police presence but didn’t find out the details until the next day. “My roommate called me and asked me if I was okay, if the police had been by. I said no and he explained there was a 'copter than had been circling around for hours and it kind of scared me because I spend 12 hours here alone, Monday through Friday, by myself,” said Tracy Mumme. Officers say Miftari is armed and dangerous. Police issued an arrest warrant for him, charging him with attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, and tampering with physical evidence. Officers say there’s no telling what lengths he’ll go to to escape. "People on the lam are willing to do things that aren't rational so I would consider that a risk. He's not necessarily a risk to women in general but he is a specific risk to anyone who may encounter him in his effort to allude capture,” said Henry. APD also says Miftari may try to leave the state. Officers issued a statewide alert to law enforcement agencies and notified the Port of Anchorage and major airports as well. If you see Miftari you’re asked to call 911 immediately. |

He's going to regret turning himself in. Should have gone to Wasilla and he'd blend in very well with the Palins and every other woman beater there.

The children of Kristen are scared and horrified by losing their mother to a ruthless murderer. If anyone would like to help them and their future please donate to the Kristen Malay-Reid and Kids it is much appreciated!
