Man Charged in February Homicide20-year-old man charged in East 20th Ave. shootingANCHORAGE - An Anchorage man is behind bars facing first-degree murder charges. Police say 20-year old William Sharp shot and killed 26-year old Purdy Alston on February 18th. Witnesses told investigators a man showed up at Alston’s residents on East 20th and asked to talk to Alston outside. A short time later they heard multiple gunshots. Two witnesses picked Sharp’s photo out of a lineup and identified him as the shooting suspect. According to court documents, witnesses said the two men may have been discussing marijuana shortly before the shooting. APD Spokesperson, Dani Myren, said investigators couldn’t release any more details. “Ultimately we don't want to sway a jury and we don't want to impact the defendant’s ability to have a fair trial,” said Myren. Sharp is schedule to appear in court again on March 20 for a representation hearing.
