Specialist Ethan Jacob Martin killed in small arms fire

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON - Specialist Ethan Jacob Martin was killed August 7 in Koragay, Afghanistan when in a small arms fire attack. Three other soldiers were injured in the attack.

Martin, 22, of Lewiston, Ohio, was assigned as a calvary scout to the 1st Squadron, 40th Calvary Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. He arrived at JBER in March 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in December 2011.

Next of kin have been notified, and a memorial will be held at JBER for Specialist Martin. JBER sill release details of the memorial at a later date.
