1988 Sitka Cold Case Murder SolvedJudge hands down the sentence to Jane Reth for the murder of her then-husband Scott Coville.
After more than 20 years, a cold case from 1988 is officially over and a woman is sentenced to 55 years behind bars.
Family and friends of murder victim Scott Coville were present in the Sitka courtroom today as a judge handed down the sentence to Jane Reth for the 1988 murder of her then-husband. Reth pleaded guilty to the murder in November after the Alaska State Troopers’ Cold Case Unit arrested her in Illinois in January 2010 after a nearly three-year investigation. The judge suspended 19 years from her sentence and also ordered that she serve 10 years of probation following her release. |

I don't know what evidence the Alaska police had, but it must have been very convincing to get this woman to plead guilty after 22 years and no body. I'm just glad they got her and that she'll be old and gray before she ever gets out of that prison, if she makes it that long.
