Pilot Killed in Kodiak Plane Crash; 2 Passengers Seriously Injured

Alaska State Troopers say one person was killed and two were injured when their floatplane crashed Friday night near Kodiak.

Alaska State Troopers say one person was killed and two were injured when their floatplane crashed Friday night near Kodiak.

Troopers say the de Havilland Otter was headed to Kodiak from the village of Old Harbor when it crashed around 7:55 p.m. about six miles south of Kodiak near Heitman Lake.

A passenger on board the plane managed to call 911 for help.

The Coast Guard was able to rescue two of the three passengers who suffered serious injuries and transferred them to a hospital in Kodiak.

Investigators say the third person, 49-year-old pilot James Andie, died at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.

Words can not explain the grief I am feeling over this accident. My prayers, and heart felt feelings go out Jimmys Wife,Children,Dad,Mom, Sister, AND BROTHERS. I feel like a brother to Jim. The pain runs deep and many tears are shed... Godspeed my Brother.
