12-Year-Old Girl MissingKatrina Edwards was last seen at Begich Middle SchoolANCHORAGE - Police are asking for the public's help locating a 12-year-old girl, Katrina Edwards. At about 6:30 p.m. Monday night, Edwards' foster parents reported her missing. She was last seen at Begich Middle School during lunch time, but never made it to her after-school program at Creekside Elementary on Muldoon. Edwards is described as Alaska Native, with long, straight, brown hair. She is 5'5", heavy-set, and was last seen wearing a gray warmup suit, with yellow writing down the legs and a matching jacket. At this point police don't suspect foul play. If you have information you are asked to call 786-8900. Katrina Edwards is photographed to the left and is in the middle of the picture. |

Eeek! Jason, have you not been paying attention to the RAMPANT abuse that has been going on in the Catholic orphanages throughout the world for decades?? Please, no. Responsibility for children belongs to their PARENTS. When are people going to start blaming the parents instead of OCS or government?? Yes, I do have children---five.

to Jason, have you ever lived in the Catholic orphanages here in Alaska or anywhere else? Are these orphanages you speak of for native children only? I read the surveys done within OCS by employees and it doesn't look promising for future children placed in foster care. There are no quick fixes here.

Begich is pretty far from creekside so did she have a ride or was she supposed to walk.Thats too far for a child to walk alone.

I really hope they find her. Just wish people would read some of the governments own reports, a child is more likely to have issues, be abused, or go missing while in the care of the state then anyone else. Can we bring back places like the old Catholic orphanages, atleast those children had a chance.

and they just had a 90 page report on how OCS operates - great job guys - we need more foster care or foster care that picks up the child...really?
