Seventeen years after Bonnie Craig was raped and murdered, her case has finally been closed.

Now, the reward money gathered for the capture and conviction of her killer is being used to solve other cases just like hers.

Formerly called the "Family and Friends of Bonnie Craig Reward Fund," the homicide reward fund is offering $20,000 for information leading to convictions in four other cold cases across Alaska.

The cases are all similar to Craig's, involving the deaths of teenage girls that occurred between 1978 and 2003.

Family members and advocacy groups hope the money will be the incentive they need to make a break in the cases.

"Law enforcement officers tell us that someone knows something that will help them solve these murders. We urge anyone with information about these crimes or other homicides to please come forward,” said Susan Sullivan of Victims for Justice.

While Bonnie Craig's case has finally been laid to rest, the murders of:

  • Jessica Bagen, 17, of Sitka
  • Shelley Connolly, 16, of Anchorage
  • Ann Saephan, 15, of Anchorage
  • Eileen Wafer, 14, of Haines

have not.

Anchorage police and Alaska State Troopers alike said they've exhausted leads and are looking for any shred of new information to continue investigating.

"It's great to finally see a sense of closure in the Bonnie Craig case. We'd like to be able to provide these families with that same sense of closure,” said Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew.

Anchorage Crime Lab officials said they have DNA profiles in three of the four cases and it could take nothing more than an anonymous tip to find the killers.

17 years gone? Pervert could have said on Thursday, Sep 29 at 11:40 AM

left the state by now. Chances are it is someone who was stalking her, waiting for the right opportunity.OR it could have been a "chance of opportunity".True SOMEONE knows something. They could always call in and not be identified if they are afraid of the killer. Once caught & behind bars, then they could come out and collect the reward.Too many perverts ling in Anchorage. 17 years ago was bad enough.Seems Alaska is a magnet for all the criminal perverts.
