1 Man Killed; Bulldozer Submerged Underwater at Port of Anchorage Expansion SiteThe Anchorage Fire Department dive team arrived to find the bulldozer resting on top of him.
A man was killed when the bulldozer he was driving at the Port of Anchorage, fell into the waters of Cook Inlet.
The Anchorage Police Department received a call just after 1p.m. this afternoon, that a man sitting in a bulldozer had slid off the north side of the port, where the port expansion project is being constructed. The Anchorage Fire Department's dive team responded and worked to stabilized the bulldozer and get the man out, but unfortunately it was too late. Al Tamagni, Anchorage Fire Department, said "as I understand he was sitting in the bulldozer, the bulldozer slid down, and I don't know if he fell out, or jumped out or it rolled, I'm not sure what the exact circumstances of the event are." Crew were able to get the man's body out but are not releasing his name until family members have been notified. It's unclear right now, whether the man was working on the port expansion project. Investigators with Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, are trying to figure out what happened. This is a developing story. |
