Ski areas were forced to close and high gusts shattered windows on the FBI building
ANCHORAGE – Wild weather throughout the state is causing problems for Alaskans.
There’s no skiing at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood and Hilltop Ski Area due to poor conditions. Gusts up to 95 mph were reported at Flattop Friday.
In Downtown Anchorage, police reported around 3:30 p.m. that they had to close the left lane of 6th Avenue between A Street and Barrow Street because wind broke windows on the FBI building. Insulation could be seen coming out the window frame.
