Helicopter locates missing 5-year-old boy on mountain

ANCHORAGE –

A missing 5-year-old boy was found just a few hours after he went missing on Mount Baldy in Eagle River, the Anchorage Police Department said.

APD received a call at around 3 p.m. Monday that Zachary Gottlieb had become separated from his family on the popular Mount Baldy hike.

Anchorage police and Alaska State Troopers joined forces to locate the 5-year-old, who was last seen at the top of the mountain, located about 15 miles from Anchroage.

The update came a little before 5:30 p.m. that Zachary had been spotted by helicopter, rescued and returned to his family.
