Story Updated: Apr 27, 2012

We don't know yet if garden crops grown with water containing sulfolane are safe to eat. We do have some information in the fact sheet, “Community Health Concerns About Sulfolane (PDF 152K), released April 22, 2010. The pilot study will provide some answers for local gardeners later in the summer. We will also keep residents informed via this website and our email list (to join, see link below). The Technical Project Team is planning a more in-depth, controlled study of sulfolane uptake in garden plants, however results from this study will not be available until after this growing season.
