Girl Scout cookies return to Alaska

Girl Scouts of Alaska CEO Sue Perles said the annual event teaches important lessons to Alaskan girls.

ANCHORAGE – For cookie lovers, the sweetest time of the year is just around the corner.

Sue Perles, CEO of Girl Scouts of Alaska, said troupes statewide are once again preparing to sell their popular cookies. Not only are the cookie sales an important fundraiser for Girl Scouts, Perles said the annual event teaches important lessons to Alaskan youth.

“First, it’s a program for girls to learn about business skills and business ethics,” she said. “But also, after we pay the baker for the cookies, every last penny stays in state.”
