The father of a 5-year-old girl hit by a SUV Friday evening says his daughter has died as a result of her injuries.
According to Cheng Wa Xiong, Ashley Xiong died around 8 p.m. last night, just hours after the collision.
Anchorage Police say Xiong was riding her bike in the intersection of Turquoise Street and Garnet Drive when she was hit by 46-year-old Her Thao who was driving a Toyota Highlander.
Witnesses told 11 News they saw the Highlander speeding before the crash.
According to Anchorage Police spokesperson Jennifer Castro, the driver remained on scene and was cooperating with police.
Castro says the little girl was not wearing a helmet when she was hit.
The investigation into the crash continues and no citations have been issued.
