Now that we are into February, we are at the height of the snowmachining season. In this week's Get Out, Mitch hops on a sled and revisits an area now transformed into a winter wonderland.

Who says winter in Alaska is just cold and dull?
The ride CBS 11 News took with Glacier City Snowmobile Tours was anything but. We were on a mission to find what we were told was an icy paradise. But getting there wasn't easy.

It was slow going as we cleared the stream, otherwise water could get on the engine. Before long we were able to pick up the pace and head then the grand finale: Spencer Glacier. CBS 11 News was here last in the summer. My! The

scenery has changed! This is now a white place of caves, giant blue pinnacles and steep icy walls. It's truly one-of-a-kind.

"These glacial-fed valleys are the only ones in the North American continent that you can access, glaciers and icebergs, by snowmobile tours," said Chris "Twirl" Roberts of Glacier City Snowmobile Tours.

This 10,000-year-old ice is so cold and dense, that it feels more like glass.

"This is an amazing feel. You can rub your hand on this ice, pull it away and your hand is dry," said Roberts.

You're going to want to set aside a whole day for this Alaskan adventure and be sure to bundle up. Have batteries juiced and your camera handy: paradise awaits!

Glacier City Snowmobile Tours is based out of Girdwood. They supply a helmet and goggles and all the attire you'll need to stay warm and cozy.
