Alaska’s senior senators call the Obama administration’s call to indefinitely delay a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline an act of political cowardice.
Friday, the State Department announced they need more time to review the more than 2 million public comments on the pipeline.
The proposed pipeline would carry oil from western Canada all the way down to Texas.
All three members of Alaska’s congressional delegation expressed frustration with the president’s decision.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski called his announcement on the Friday before the Easter Sunday “inexcusable” and “irrational.”
“An announcement that indefinitely delays jobs and opportunities for people within this country, indefinitely delays our energy security, it’s a decision I just don’t understand,” Murkowski said.
