Matt Emmons, a former University of Alaska Fairbanks star representing Team USA at the 2016 Olympics, took 19th place Sunday in the men’s 50-meter, three-position shooting event at the Olympic Shooting Center.
However, his finish among the 44 competitors in the early round was not high enough to qualify for the finals.
The four-time Olympian is a three-time medal winner, having earned a gold, silver and bronze. He won his lone gold in the 50-meter prone in Athens, Greece, in 2004, his first Olympics. He also competed at the Olympic games in London in 2012 and Beijing in 2008.
