Former Aces goalie Coleman returns to coach

By Dave Goldman 10:31 AM September 13, 2016
ANCHORAGE –

A familiar face is coming back to the Alaska Aces.

Gerald Coleman

Gerald Coleman is returning to Anchorage — this time to coach. The 31-year-old Coleman helped Glacier Blue to its most recent Kelly Cup title in 2014 and will serve this season as the Aces’ goaltending coach.

At 6 feet 5 inches tall, he had an advantage. His large frame covered more of the goal.

But he retired following that season due to hip injuries. He was always a clutch performer — solid in the regular season and even better in the playoffs. Now, he’s back in Anchorage to pass on his knowledge to the next group of backstops.

Players will be arriving at the end of September to begin the 2016-17 campaign.
