Fairbanks strikes gold, will play another day

WICHITA –
Jacob Hayes’ three-run home run sparked a five-run second inning as the Fairbanks Goldpanners eliminated the Arvada (CO) Colts 8-6 Monday night at the National Baseball Congress World Series at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
With the win, the Goldpanners advanced to the fourth round of the tournament and will face the San Diego (CA) Waves on Wednesday.
The Goldpanners improved to 2-1 in the elimination game.
The Colts had the tying run at bat in the top of the 9th inning but relief pitcher Miles Chambers induced a double play for the  Goldpanners, ending the game and earning his first save thus far in Kansas.
