Titles like master gardener, mariner, photographer and chef are a few words to describe Marion Owen. She and her husband, Marty, own the Cliff House Bed and Breakfast in Kodiak.
Owen moved to Kodiak in 1984 and never looked back.
“Kodiak, for me, had the friendliest people,” she said. “It had such a strong sense of community.”
Using specially crafted compost, Owen gardens year-round and serves the fruits of her labor on a dinner cruise her and her husband host aboard the Sea Breeze. The couple hosts about 80-100 dinner cruises every summer.
“I never get tired of cooking,” she said. “For me, it’s a recreation, for me it’s a way to do something nice for people and to say, ‘I love you.’”
When she’s not sailing the high seas, she’s snapping pictures of Kodiak’s vast landscapes and wildlife; a skill she shares with students at a local church.
