Southside Garden Supply is sponsoring a two-day seminar by the Alaska Cannabis Institute
ANCHORAGE - Some Alaskans are eager to get their start in the cannabis business.
Voters will decide on Aug. 19 if Alaska will be the next state to legalize retail marijuana.
If it happens, Southside Garden Supply anticipates a lot of people in their store looking to start a business.
The shop doesn’t support illegal growing, but wants to be ready for new possibilities. Its owners are sponsoring a two-day seminar by the Alaska Cannabis Institute.
The event will focus on the business side of legal recreational marijuana.
For $420 dollars a seat, industry experts and professionals teach about marijuana law, strategy and operations.
“This correlation with the Alaska Cannabis Institute is a little reach for us but we’re just proposing education so when it does become legal, if it does become legal, people can be successful,” said Julie Martin, owner of Southside Garden Supply.
The seminar takes place May 17 and 18 at the Egan Center. Already more than half the seats are sold.
