Election officials see increased voter turnout

By Dave Detling 5:45 AM April 1, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

The Anchorage Municipal Clerk’s Office estimates a turnout of roughly 5,000 early voters for this year’s municipal election.

“Our numbers are up,” said Deputy Clerk Amanda Moser.

The clerk’s office and countless volunteers have been busy at early polling stations, but the most work comes when the polls open Tuesday at 7 a.m.

Voters are reminded to bring proper identification with them to their district polling place. If you haven’t received an updated voter registration card from the state elections office, you can check the state’ election website by clicking here.

Moser said voters unsure of their district’s polling place can cast their ballot at one of three different in-person/absentee locations. They include the Loussac Library, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the University of Alaska Anchorage student union.

Polls are open between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
