Russell James, 47, died around 7:30 a.m.
ANCHORAGE – An Eagle River resident was killed Tuesday morning when his truck slid off icy roads and rolled down an embankment, police said.
According to a statement from the Anchorage Police Department, 47-year-old Russell James was driving a 2010 Ford pickup when he seemingly lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Kogru Place and Prudhoe Bay Avenue just after 7 a.m. The truck rolled down an embankment, police said, and witnesses and first responders reported James — the only occupant — was unconscious and struggling to breath when they administered first aid.
James could not be revived, police said, and he was pronounced dead around 7:30 a.m.
His next of kin have been notified, police said.
