Divided committee advances abortion funding bill

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – A divided House Finance Committee has advanced a bill seeking to further define what constitutes a medically necessary abortion for purposes of Medicaid funding.

The vote was 6-5, with some of the opponents citing concerns about the lack of a provision that would allow for expanded family planning services.
