Disturbance ends in apparent suicide at South Anchorage residence

By KTVA CBS 11 News 5:26 PM July 6, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

Reports of a wife shooting at her husband ended in an apparent suicide Saturday evening, the Anchorage Police Department said.

When officers responded to the residence on the 1100 block of East 74th Avenue just after 5:30 p.m., according to a Sunday statement from APD, the husband had already fled the home and told police he heard a second gunshot after he made it outside. After officers were unsuccessful in contacting the woman inside the home, APD said a SWAT team was called to the scene to assist. It wasn’t until just before midnight that APD located the woman inside the home, dead from what the department said appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The woman’s death remains under investigation, according to police.
